Digging for your key fob before reaching the car door can slow down an already busy morning. BMW Digital Key Plus solves that by turning your smartphone into a secure, fully functional key, and Fields BMW Orlando and Winter Park can show you how it fits your routine. Instead of juggling a separate fob, you unlock, start, and drive with the phone in your pocket.
Ultra-Wideband Technology That Knows You're Close
BMW Digital Key Plus uses secure ultra-wideband technology to recognize when your compatible device is approaching or leaving the vehicle. As you approach, your BMW can automatically unlock and activate its welcome sequence. Once you're inside, simply press the START/STOP button and drive without taking your phone out of your pocket or placing it in the wireless charging tray.
Sharing Access Without Handing Over a Key
This system lets you share access with up to five people through the My BMW App instead of cutting a spare key. You can set driving restrictions, such as a top speed limit or maximum radio volume, for a less experienced driver. Recipients accept the invitation on Android or iOS, so the household is not locked into one phone type.
Compatible Devices and BMW Models
BMW Digital Key Plus is available with select BMW models and compatible smartphones and smartwatches. Compatibility varies by device, operating system, and vehicle equipment, so it's important to confirm that your specific BMW and mobile device support the feature.
Depending on your device and settings, BMW Digital Key may even remain functional for up to five hours after your smartphone battery is depleted. Compatible vehicles can also support a credit-card-sized BMW Digital Key Card, providing another convenient way to access and start the vehicle. BMW also stores the Digital Key securely within your smartphone's Secure Element, helping protect the credentials that allow your device to function as a vehicle key.
