2027 BMW iX3 plugged into a charger

The BMW iX3 just had a very good week in New York. At the 2026 New York International Auto Show, an international jury of 98 motoring journalists handed the BMW iX3 two of the most coveted prizes in the industry: World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle 2026. The team at Fields BMW Orlando and Winter Park was watching closely, because this is the kind of recognition that signals a real shift in what BMW is putting on the road.

A Double Victory for the Neue Klasse

The BMW iX3 is the first model from BMW's Neue Klasse, the platform shaping the brand's next chapter. Beating competitors across every powertrain category for World Car of the Year, then taking home World Electric Vehicle on top of it, marks the tenth and eleventh World Car Award wins for the BMW Group. The jury cited the BMW iX3's performance, driving dynamics, and standout technology after extensive test drives.

What's Under the Skin

The BMW iX3 50 xDrive® pairs two electric motors for 469 horsepower and 645 Nm of torque, with a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. It runs on sixth-generation BMW eDrive® technology with an 800-volt architecture, supporting DC fast charging at up to 400 kW. Four high-performance computers, including the Heart of Joy that manages driving dynamics, deliver up to 20 times the computing power of previous BMW models.

Why This Matters for Drivers

Awards are nice. What matters more is what they signal. The BMW iX3 ushers in a new design language, a leap in range and charging, and the next evolution of Sheer Driving Pleasure under BMW Panoramic iDrive®.
