For 2012, the 740i sedan is equipped with a Twin Turbo 3.0-liter In-Line 6-cylinder engine which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The powerplant produces an impressive 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. It can reach top speeds of 130 miles per hour and can accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 5.8 seconds! Even with this speed and power, the 2012 BMW 740i sedan remains pleasantly fuel efficient. It is capable of earning 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.
