Not sure when you need BMW service for your vehicle? It's easy to forget when your last service appointment was, but to help you going forward, our BMW dealers have created this overview of some key service milestones you’ll want to keep in mind.

Oil Changes

Regardless of how much you drive, you should plan to get your oil changed every six months or so. As for mileage, you should probably schedule an appointment every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, depending on your vehicle.

Even if it just sits in a tank, oil degrades over time. Depending on the oil you use, 10,000 miles may not be out of the question for your service mileage limit. Consult your owner’s manual or talk to our technicians for more precise details.

Tires Rotations

Tire rotations are vital for getting the most life and best performance out of your tires, but this is something many drivers forget about. Tires should be rotated at least a couple of times per year. This is also the same recommendation for oil changes, so it makes sense to have these tasks done at the same time.

Brake Checks

If your brakes are squeaking, you should schedule a service appointment right away. Otherwise, it is a good idea to have your brakes looked at yearly.

You can usually drive around 50,000 miles before your brake pads and shoes will need to be replaced. Rotors can typically last about 60,000 miles before they wear down.

Battery Inspections

It’s important to remember that car batteries don’t have very long lives, only living about five years or so. This is why you need to get your battery tested every year so you know what kind of charge it has left.
