It’s well deserving of high honors and sits atop the BMW brand’s most luxurious categories--the BMW 7-Series. All new for 2016, this teched-out, decked out cruiser boasts the sixth generation of 7-Series production. Taking a look at the newly designed, ever roomy sedan, BMW once again proves to us that that luxury is truly in the eye of the beholder.

While its height and width remain similar to last year’s model, the all-new 7-Series does grow just about an inch longer. It also weighs in slightly lighter this year as the 7-Series platform has been revamped with a strong carbon core structure comprised of carbon-reinforced plastic, aluminum, and durable steel. A few other additions like an aluminum trunk and plastic front fenders have allowed for the 7-Series to lose about 190 pounds--nearly 15 percent of its total weight from the previous model.

With what it’s lost in pounds, BMW has loaded up the extras in technology options. The 7-Series comes with so many advanced features that you could practically run your home office from it. Want to save fuel when you’re stopped at a red light? Done. How about the ability to change your vehicle’s height? You can raise the ride height by 0.8-inch, and when cruising in Sport mode, you’ll be automatically lowered by 0.4-inch. Want to feel like you’re in a personal recording studio while cruising down the highway? We think the 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround system could help transport you there.

What’s really driving the all-new 2016 BMW 7-Series? A six-cylinder 740i and V-8 750i. Both models will be offered with rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive xDrive versions within the first few months of launch. BMW will also offer a hybrid plug-in, and there’s talk about a diesel in the future.
